A New Musical

Curious Creations Theatre in association with PHT Creative Hub Co-operative

Covid-Adapted-Concert-Version

Waiting for Garbo introduces you to two radically different groups: The Catadores are garbage pickers at the world’s largest dump, on the brink of losing their livelihood. In desperation they dream of saving the seas from plastic pollution as their way out. The Garbo Seekers are three Magi intent on finding the lost films of their goddess, Greta Garbo. Their worlds collide, and what happens is in turn funny, irreverent, poignant, whimsical, clever and thought-provoking.

Entertaining theatre with a social conscience. Originally performed at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Waiting for Garbo 2020 is the second phase of development as we anticipate a full production when possible. This concert version premieres an all new original musical score, composed, arranged and curiously created by members of the company. You will experience the full musical – minus staged movement. The cast reads the script, performs the songs and plays a wonderful array of musical instruments in their safe performance zones on stage.

Recycled musical vortex Our writing intentionally recycles images and bits from plays, public lectures, and video, repurposing snippets from the theatre canon, words of the catadores of Jardim Gramacho, Severn Cullis-Suzuki, David Suzuki, Bolan Slat, Charles J. Moore, and Rod Serling in a theatrical vortex to form our own unique, prophetic story.
