Artists for Bharatanatyam: Shilpa Shankar Event Description: Shilpa will be presenting three dance compositions in the Indian classical dance style Bharatanatyam. The program will begin with a Pushpanjali, an invocatory piece involving an offering of flowers, followed by Gangadeswaram Shankaram, a composition exploring the Ardhanarishvara - a form of the cosmic dancer, Shiva. An intricate and fast paced pure dance composition, Thillana will conclude the evening.
Artists for An Ode to Diaspora: Tanaz Roudgar, Chantal Gering Event Description: An Ode to Diaspora is a somatic dance theatre performance by 2 dancers and 1 musician. An art expression to see the bloom of questions that arise around roots, belonging and connectedness in a beautiful poetic way. These artists will create a gentle poetic movement piece by connecting to their ancestors.
